The VIS 2025 Away Day took place on 16 September in London, bringing together a vibrant community of scholars, PhD candidates, and partners from Vietnam and abroad. The event offered a valuable opportunity to reflect on recent achievements while reaffirming VIS’s role in connecting Vietnamese intellectuals with the global academic environment.
The programme featured a panel discussion on supporting P89 PhD candidates in the UK, sponsored by the British Council and chaired by ๐๐ฌ๐ฌ๐ข๐ฌ๐ญ๐๐ง๐ญ ๐๐ซ๐จ๐๐๐ฌ๐ฌ๐จ๐ซ ๐๐ฎ๐ ๐๐ง๐ก ๐๐๐ง๐ (Coventry University) and ๐๐ฌ๐ฌ๐จ๐๐ข๐๐ญ๐ ๐๐ซ๐จ๐๐๐ฌ๐ฌ๐จ๐ซ ๐๐จ๐ง ๐๐จ๐๐ง๐ (University of Southampton). The session attracted strong interest from young researchers, who were eager to learn from the valuable experiences and practical advice shared by the speakers and fellow participants.
The highlight of the day was the keynote lecture delivered by ๐๐ซ๐จ๐๐๐ฌ๐ฌ๐จ๐ซ ๐๐ฎ๐ข ๐๐ ๐จ๐ ๐๐จ๐ง (University of Oxford), entitled โAcademic Creativity: Myth and Truthโ. His insightful perspectives on creativity in academia inspired lively exchanges among VIS members from diverse fields.
The agenda was further enriched by two engaging presentations. ๐๐ฌ ๐๐ก๐ซ๐ข๐ฌ๐ญ๐ข๐ง๐ ๐๐ (EHMW) provided practical guidance on financial planning and management to support scholars in their academic and professional development. ๐๐ซ ๐๐ฎ๐จ๐ง๐ ๐๐ ๐ฎ๐ฒ๐๐ง ๐๐๐จ, DCSMO and Managing Director at CMC Global, introduced promising opportunities for collaboration between CMC, one of Vietnamโs leading technology firms, and VIS.
We extend our sincere gratitude to EHMW and CMC for their partnership and support, which were instrumental to the success of the event.
Through these activities, achievements, and collaborations, the VIS 2025 Away Day once again highlighted VISโs vital role in connecting communities, fostering collaboration, and sharing knowledge with the world.
