On November 1, 2025, representatives from the Vietnamese Intellectual Society (VIS) were honored to attend Vietshow UK 2025 with the theme “Dream through Vietnam”, a remarkable and heartfelt night of art created and performed by the community of Vietnamese students and young professionals in the United Kingdom.
This was the first-ever Vietnamese cultural musical, creatively produced and directed by more than 50 young Vietnamese currently living and studying in the UK. The story was told through the character An, a young Vietnamese student representing a generation living abroad, carrying within her the desire to reach out to the world while remaining deeply connected to her homeland.
“Dream through Vietnam” was designed as a musical journey across Vietnam, taking the audience through beloved regions of the country: from the resonant folk song “Inh lả ơi” echoing through the majestic Northwest mountains, to the gentle charm of Hue with its purple ao dai and soft rain. Hoi An came alive through traditional mask painting, evoking the simplicity and peace of home. In Quang Tri, “Neu con chưa ve” created a touching moment, reminding the audience of those who sacrificed their lives for the peace we cherish today. The atmosphere then burst with energy as “Saigon Dep Lam” filled the stage, vibrant and full of life, closing the musical journey across Vietnam with faith and youthful spirit.
Through each song and performance, An and young Vietnamese everywhere were inspired and motivated to continue their studies, overcome challenges abroad, and pursue their dreams with determination. They came to realize that no matter how far one goes, home will always be a source of peace in every heart.
Vietshow UK 2025 was not only a cultural performance but also a symbol of creativity, pride, and unity among the young Vietnamese generation in the UK.
