On 5 June 2026, at the Embassy of Viet Nam in London, the Vietnamese Intellectual Society in the UK and Ireland (VIS) officially launched its Expert Database and Strategic Technology Expert Groups, marking an important milestone in strengthening connections between overseas Vietnamese expertise and the development needs of Viet Nam.

The event was attended by H.E. Ambassador Do Minh Hung, representatives of the Embassy of Viet Nam in the UK, the Science and Technology Office in London, VIS Executive Board members, and experts from across the VIS network. The event also welcomed the online participation of Mr Nguyen Phu Hung, Director General of the Department of Science and Technology, Ministry of Science and Technology of Viet Nam, highlighting the Ministry’s strong support for connecting overseas Vietnamese expertise with national science and technology priorities.
In his remarks, H.E. Ambassador Do Minh Hung highlighted that science, technology, and innovation are key pillars of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Viet Nam and the United Kingdom. He also recognised the valuable contributions of VIS in mobilising intellectual resources from the Vietnamese community in the UK to support national development.
Prof. Nguyen Xuan Huan, Chair of VIS, emphasised that the database is more than a directory of experts. It is designed as a practical mechanism to connect challenges and opportunities from ministries, universities, research institutes, local authorities, and businesses in Viet Nam with the expertise of Vietnamese professionals and academics in the UK and Ireland.
VIS would like to express its sincere appreciation to the Embassy of Viet Nam in the UK, the Science and Technology Office in London, and all VIS members and experts who contributed to the development of this initiative.

We look forward to working together to transform knowledge into impact and strengthen scientific and technological cooperation between Viet Nam, the UK, and Ireland.
